Caring for your Laminate Floor

Laminate flooring has a durable, easy-to-clean surface and normally requires only light, regular maintenance.

• Remove dust and dirt with a soft broom or dry microfibre mop.
• Use a vacuum fitted with a suitable hard-floor brush attachment.
• Avoid rotating beater bars that could scratch the surface.
• For light soiling, use a well-wrung, slightly damp microfibre mop.
• Ensure the floor dries quickly without visible moisture remaining.
• Never pour or spray water or cleaning products directly onto the floor.

Entrance Mats

Place suitable dirt-trapping mats at entrances to prevent grit, sand and small stones from scratching the laminate surface.

Furniture Protection

Fit clean felt pads or suitable protective caps beneath furniture legs. Always lift heavy furniture instead of dragging it across the floor.

Office Chairs

Use soft-wheeled castors or place a suitable protective chair mat beneath chairs fitted with nylon castors.

Shoes and Pets

Remove heavily soiled footwear and keep pets’ claws trimmed to reduce the risk of scratching.

Wipe up spills immediately using a clean, absorbent cloth. Do not allow liquid to remain on the surface or enter the plank joints.

• Blot liquid spills instead of spreading them across the floor.
• Use a slightly damp cloth for food and drink marks.
• Dry the cleaned area immediately.
• For stubborn marks, use only a laminate-compatible cleaning method approved for your specific FINfloor range.
• Apply cleaning products to the cloth rather than directly onto the flooring.
• Test any approved product in an inconspicuous area first.

Laminate flooring contains a wood-based core that may swell when exposed to excessive or trapped moisture. Water-resistance performance differs between laminate ranges.

• Wipe up spills immediately.
• Do not leave standing water on the floor.
• Never clean laminate flooring with a steam cleaner.
• Check for leaks around appliances and air-conditioning units.
• Use suitable protection beneath pet bowls and plant containers.
• Follow the water-resistance conditions for your specific range.

Prolonged exposure to strong, direct sunlight may cause gradual colour changes. Use blinds, curtains or UV-filtering window treatments in areas receiving intense sunlight.

Where practical, occasionally reposition rugs and furniture to encourage more even exposure to sunlight and foot traffic.
