Vinyl Flooring Maintenance & Care

Keep your Vinyl floors looking their best for years to come.

Proper Cleaning & Maintenance

Proper care will help keep your SPC and LVT flooring looking its best for years to come. Regularly sweep, vacuum or dry mop to remove dust and grit, and clean with a damp microfibre mop and suitable neutral-pH vinyl cleaner. Avoid excessive water and always wipe up spills promptly.

Protect your floor with felt furniture pads and non-staining entrance mats, and never drag heavy furniture across the surface. Avoid steam cleaners, abrasive products, bleach, ammonia, wax and polish, as these may damage or dull the floor.

How to clean Vinyl flooring ?

FINFLOOR VINYL FLOORING CLEANING GUIDE
Now that your new SPC or LVT floors are installed, the next question is: how do you keep them looking their best?

Proper cleaning and maintenance are essential to protecting the appearance and long-term performance of your vinyl flooring.

Regularly remove dust and grit, clean with a damp microfibre mop and suitable vinyl floor cleaner, and always wipe up spills promptly.

Avoid excessive water, steam cleaners and harsh or abrasive cleaning products.

  • Use a dry or damp microfibre mop, or vacuum with a hard-floor attachment and the beater bar switched off, to remove dust, dirt and grit.
  • Clean regularly to prevent dirt and grit from building up.
  • Wipe up spills promptly.
  • Use minimal water and a suitable neutral-pH vinyl floor cleaner when required.
  • Avoid excessive water, harsh detergents and cleaning products that may leave residue or dull the surface.
  • Occasional deeper cleaning helps keep your SPC and LVT flooring looking fresh and prevents dirt and residue buildup.
  • Use a damp microfibre mop with a neutral-pH cleaner suitable for vinyl flooring.
  • Avoid flooding or saturating the floor, particularly with glue-down LVT.
  • Do not use steam cleaners, harsh chemicals, abrasives, wax or polish.
  • Remove any cleaner residue and allow the floor to dry fully before walking on it.
  • Act quickly when spills or stains occur to help protect your SPC and LVT flooring.
  • Blot spills immediately and wipe with a clean, damp cloth.
  • For stubborn marks, use a vinyl-compatible neutral-pH cleaner applied to a soft cloth.
  • Avoid abrasive pads, sharp tools, bleach, ammonia and harsh solvents.
  • Remove any cleaner residue and dry the area thoroughly.

Everyday Protection

Protecting Your Vinyl Floor

Small habits go a long way in keeping your laminate floor’s surface layer and photographic design intact.

Entrance Mats

Trap dirt at entrances using dirt-trapping rugs to stop grit and stones from scratching the surface.

Felt Pads

Use felt pads under furniture and rubber castors on chairs to prevent scratching and indentations.

UV Protection

Use blinds or curtains to block UV rays, which can fade the photographic design layer over time.

Rearrange Periodically

Move furniture and rugs every couple of years to distribute foot traffic evenly across the floor.
